I used to love reading current events being a bit of a political wonk. It was never something that made me extremely happy or anything like that because there were plenty of terrible things going on in every administration. I just liked being informed. However, nothing prepared me for bots and how effectively we are being played by bot operators. When I was a youngster we were told “don’t believe everything you read or see on TV.” Seemed so simple then but this is now. Those rules apply doubly since information flies in your face from every angle with a significant percentage being pure unfiltered propaganda, one would have to have the most skeptical mind. Like grumpy cat. By today’s standard we should be swatting away a lot of senselessness. Bots are like insects who out number us. So if the comment seems heartless, it is probably a bot. Sadly, the GOP have long advocated that government was the problem. They claimed capitalism and free marketplace were what we need to make our nation function well but now it is clear that they barely believe in democracy with all the gerrymandering, voter suppression, anti-citizen rhetoric and anti-immigrant rhetoric. All of this makes it hard to find any distinction between heartlessness and thoughtlessness. We still have to keep our eye on the prize because when women’s personal freedom is under attack with heartbeat laws and other autocratic measures then everyone suffers. Being grumpy is a form of patriotism. Stay grumpy my friends.
